KELBURNE CLUB'S GREEN' SOLD. The publio will remember that there was a great deal of talk some months ago regarding the proposal to lease a portion, of tho Town Belt'at Kelbtirno to .the Kelburne Bowling Club, which club had found some littlo difficulty in the prospect of keeping on the sumiy sido of the ledger with its present property on Kelburne Parade (immediately at the back oft tho Victoria College buildings). After much argument ■m'o and con tho lease wa-s effected, and a start is to be made immediately with the making of the new green on a hill-top site immediately to the south of the colloge. Having secured tho desired lease, tho club has now sold three out of the four sections into which the' existing green has been sub-divided for tho purpose of salo. Tho total frontage of tho green to 'the parade is ,166 ft.. and tho sections already disposed or have 50ft., 40ft., and 40ft. respectively to that thoroughfare, leaving one with 36ft. -frontago yet to bo disposed of. Tho price realised was £18 per foot. Tho club will have tho use of the green this season, as sales have been effected subject to tho purchaser not taking possession until the end of March next. By the timo the 1914-15 season commences the now ground will be ready. , The Thorndon Club has found itself in the possession of too much ground, and tho directors some time ago decided to dispose of tho lower green—a very valuable section on tho corner of Tin'akori Road and Park Street—assuming .that a .reasonablo. figure could be obtained. Tho club has an offer before it now for tho block. Tho salo will n,ot inconvenience members in the least as tho now green (the largest in Wellington)' is now in first-rate order, and promises to play this season bettor than tho lower green. The Thorndon Club has decided to open, the season on Saturday, April 11.
