The passenger traffic on the trams is being well maintained, each day showing an increase in the takings. At a meeting of creditors in. the estate of Paora Nia Nia, of Te Aute, hold yesterday, tile examination of the bankrupt showed that some three years ago he received £2000 odd from the sale of land, most of which ho squandered in about six months. Bankrupt's statement of affairs showed assets £6, but under cross-examination he admitted owning a houso valued at £350 which, subsequent to erection, ho discovered was on another man's land. Creditors asked for a public examination, and promised to give an indemnity for tho Supremo Court expenses. At a meeting of tho Land Board yesterday applications to acquire freeholds wcro granted in respect of nino sections embracing 3000 odd acres. A sonsational bolt occurred in Bay View Road yesterday morning. A horse harnessed to a milk cart dashed over a bank 40 feet deep, smashing tho cart-to atoms, and severely injuring tho horse. The driver was delivering milk at tho time of,.tho runaway.
