THE ATTRACTION TO-DAY. Wanganui, by its defeat of the New South Wales team, has come into prominence, and ,! the Rugby Unipn official note states that their showing against Wellington at Athletic Park this afternoon will be .watched with interest. The Wellington Union is not represented by its best team, as, apart from tho absenco of the touring team, several other good players aro unable to take_ the field to-day. The Wellington team is as follows: —Full-back, Capper; three-quar-ters, Young, Beard, Gardner; fiveeighths, J. Ryan, R. Dansey, H. Little; forwards, Murphy, Ready, D. Sullivan, Osborne, Parrant, Perry (Wellington), Beard, Cunningham. During the interval the last Harrier event of the season will be run. Some twelve teams have entered. HOUSE MATCH. The annual house match between Ross and Glendining, Ltd., and Sargood, Son, and Ewen, Ltd., will be played at St. Patrick's ground, Duppa Street, this afternoon. Ross and Glondining will be represented by: Kinvig, Moore, Mackein, Porteous, Mitchell, Hugh, Barker, Jacobsen, Berry, Driver, Chartres, Hopkirlc, Pearce, Watters, and Boyd. •THE SELWYN CLUB. , The annual smoke concert of the Selwyu Club was held last evening in Scott's rooms. Mr. H. Card presided, and there was : a good attendance of members, who spent an enjoyable evening. The chairman proposed the toast of "The Selwyn Club," response being mado by Messrs. E. Dawson and H. Buck. Mr. F. Galvin proposed the toast of "The Wellington Rugby Union," Mr. Buck' responding. Other toasts were "The Referees' Association" and' "Kindred Sports."
