MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
CITY BY-LAW. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr. W. G. Riddel], S.M., Douglas Harrison was fined 10s. for taking his taxi-cab on to tho Feathorston Street stand when there were already ten taxi-cabs thero. For a similar offence, Georgo Fernandos was fined ss. As tho person responsible for a chimney which caught fire, George Hill was fined 55., with costs 7s. Alfred Still was fined 55., with costs 75., for having driven across an intersection at more than a walking paco. For having allowed stock to wander at largo, John Stannard was fined 10s., with costs 7s. ' Julia Shultz was sent to prison for a month on a .'charge of having insufficient means of support. For insobriety, John Douglas was fined £2, and Alfred Brewer 10s. For failure to attend military parado William Patrick Chapman was fined 55., with costs 75.; and J. J. Rovell.was ordered to pay costs 7s. Charles Baker was fined £2 for having sold a Winchester rifle to a boy undor 16 years. Lionel Jeffries was discharged respecting an allegation of the thoft from Ethel Davis of a £7 10s. ring. CIVIL ACTION. CLAIM AGAINST A DENTIST. Johanna Krebs, dressmaker, sued John S. Fairchild, dentist, for £18 18s.. for alleged failure to exercise due skill and diligence in tho carrying out of certain dental work. Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., who heard the ease, nonsuited tho plaintiff. Mr. Dale appeared for tho plaintiff, and Mr. T. Neave for the defendant.
