Maxwell, whose new book."The Devil's Garden," has been banned by tho public libraries —tho press reviewers praised tho book —has been interviewed on the subject. Ho says that tho censor made a mistake in taking isolated scenes from the book, and failing to see the main drift of the story. The action of tho censor was all against tho spirit of tlio age. People wete no longer afraid of the truth. Mr. Wm. Balnngton Maxwell is a writer of novels and short stories. His published works include:—"The Countess of Jlavlmv.v" (1901). "Patulous Fancies (1003), '"The flagged Mcssenzer (1801), "Vivien" (1905), "The Guarded Flame (iron), "Odd Lengths" (1907), "Hill Bisi (1908).
