"TOWN AND COUNTRY."
NEW REGULATIONS FOR TERRITORIAL TRAINING. It has been deoided by the military authorities that Territorial companies, except in urban districts, will be designated "country" companios. They will do tho prescribed training with tho substitution of four extra days in camp (making 13 days in all) for 20 drills. The prescribed training will, therefore, bo as follows: —(1) "Town" companies— (a) thirty drills, (b) twelve half-day (or six whole day) parades, (o) nino days in. camp, (b) the prescribed courao of musketry. . ... (2) "Country" companies—(a) Ten drills, (b) twelve half-day parades, (c) thirteen days in camp, (d) tho prescribed course; of musketry. Officers commanding units are to make their'own arrangements, to suit local conditions, v as to which companies are "town" and which are "country" companies, but, in any one company there cannot be some men who go into camp for tho extra four days and others who do more drills and parades. In special: cases officers commanding Units may permit men in "town" companies to substitute four extra days in camp for, twenty drills, but this permission must be given early in the year end mitst be sparingly accorded.
