Supplies of apples aro coium? from the Motueka district, and pear 3, ex cool store, from Nelson., A few apples from the Canterbury ■ district are also finding their way on to this, market. Tho Tahiti, from San Francisco-, and tho Cook Islands, due oil Thursday, .is bringing the usual monthly shipment, of bananas, Island oranges, and kumeras, and from San Francisco the first shipment of Californian, apples and pears. Tim Sydney steamer, due to-day. is bringing a nice shipment of mandarins, ; passion fruit, Seville orange's, lemons, sweet oranges, and pineapples. Vegetables—Sprine cabbages and cauliflowers are in strong demand, and consignments are recommended. Celery is also in good* demand. Increased supplies of rhubarb aro coming on- tho market from the Hurtt, and prices.fluctuate according to tho auantity offering on the. day of sale.' A Timaru merchant, it i 3 reported, has been, inquiring for wheat in Ohristchurch, but the only supplies available are those in merchants' bands, and no business is flaid to havo eventuated. The oat market is if anything a little weaker, hut 1 there is little d-oluisf. The early spring will no doubt effect tho demand for feed, and there is little or no prospcct of a.ny cxport business bein- done. Potatoes aro nominally £1 ss. at. country stations, and soveral merchants say that business cannot he dono on the basis of this price, and tihiat thev aro not worth more tliaji £1 anil £1 2is. 6d. at country Gtattons.
