PRIVATE SCHOOLS.
AS LOOPHOLES FOR TRUANCY, (Br TeJeifOorreMxmdonl) Wanganui, September 9. The attitude-of somo privato schools in respect to regular attcndanco of pupils-led to discussion at a meeting of tho Wanganui School Committee last evening. Inquiries made showed that, while the State and Jlarist Brothers sent regular lists of absontecs to the Education Board, sorao private schools did not do so. Tho effeefc of .this was indicated by the chairman, who stated that, in some cases, public schools lost pupils because, when parents sent them to privato schools, they ceased to bo •troubled by tho truant inspector. It was decided to suggest to tho Education Board that it was advisable that all schools should forward absentee lists in order that regular attendance be as strictly onfoicod at private ivs tho jauklialjw&Qoia*
