ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
THE CLYDE QUAY SMASH. Mr. Cecil Daro Bridge, who was injured in the motor cyclo accident in Clyde Quay on Thursday cvoning, is still confined to bed. He is suffering from severe bruisos to his left shoulder,' and his left side is badly bruised. Tho accident was the result of a collision with a vice-regal motor-car, tho view of the drivers being at tho time obscured; by a standing tram. HUTT ACCIDENT. Robert Arbwright, the railway porter injured in Mirairsaay evening's snuntinc; accident at tho Hutt, died at tho Wellington Hospital at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday. DEATH ON S.S. ROTORUA. (By Telesrraph—Prces Association.) I nveroargill, September 7. David EL'igott, 46 years of age,' employed as a greaser on the s.s. liotorua, was found dead in his bunk On Saturday. Deceased spent most of Friday evening in iho Sailors' Rest and returned to the ship about 10.30 .apparently in his usual state of health. During tho alight he was heard orying out in his sleep, and was awakened by ono of his mates. Later ho was found dead. - Ho was a nativo of London, whero his widow and family reside. Dr. Terrance examined tho body but found .no marks of violence. A son of the deceased was killed by accident on tho Rakaia when she .was at tho Bluff about four years ago. MISSING STATIONMASTER. ■ THE BODY FOUND IN THE BUSH. Westport, September 6. Tho mystery concerning tho fate of Joseph Osmond Croft, tho Granity sta-tionmast-er, who has missing since July 12, was solved this afternoon, when tho body was found in tho bush, across the railway, about 200 yards, outside tho borough boundary. A bottle of poison, half, empty, was lying besido tho body. No papers or money were found in. tho pockets, deceased had been paid\ Lis salary just a few days beforo he disappeared. SCALDING ACCIDENT. Mr. A. R. Kennedy, Clcrk-in-Cliargo of tho Government Advertising Department, met with a somewhat severo Sccidont on Saturday. Both feet _ were rather badly scalded) by a quantity of boiling water upsetting on them. FOUND HANGING. , Dunedin, September 7. William Scott, aged - 42 years, a married man and a miner, residing in Green Island, was found hanging in- his washhouso at 7 o'clock this morning. It was ovideait that,ho had been dead some timo beforo lio was found.
