MR. G. SEIFERT'S OPINION. ■ THE RECENT OFFER TO BARRY. (By Telegraph —Special Correspondent.) Palmerston N., September 6. Mr. George Scifert, during a recent Australian holiday, spent several days as Evans Heads at tlio residenco of Pacldon, who is shortly to,row Arnst for tho championship of Australia. ' Paddon is training there with Harry Floyd. Up till now ho has put in about l five months' work, and should bo taking up his residence on the Parramatta (tlio scene of tho race) i next week. Speaking of Paddon's chances Mr. Soi- , fort stated that ho was a long way bet- , 1 ter now tlian when ho.defeated Folton. It- was, however, hard to sav what tlio result would be. If Arnst could got back to his former condition he should win, but, said tlio speaker, there is not time for him to do this. As tho race will eventuate on November 1 tho chances lio with Paddon. Ho can stay as well as Arnst and is as fast, as- Pcarco. Tho only difference is that Arii3t knows moro about tho game. Paddon} Mr. Scifert further remarked, is 43 inches round tho chest and 6ft. 35in. in height and weighs 13st. 101b. when in condition. From these figures ho firmly believes ' that ho will be a good stayer." Mr. Scifert stated the winner of tho match would bo scut to -row Barry on tlio Thames. An invitation had been sent to Barrv to come out to Australia to row, but he had stated he would only I row on the Thames.
