WELLINGTON RACING CLUB.

STEWARDS' REPORT. Tho annual report of tho Wellington Racing Club shows that tho year ended July 31, 1913, has proved to be the most successful in tho history of tho club. The surplus for tho year amounts to £8608 12s. 2d., from which it has been decided to writ© off as follows-:— Freehold property and buildings, £8143 OS. 7d,; furniture, £219 12s. 3d.; luncheon and tearoom plant, £172 lis. Id.; total,'£Bs3s 3s, lid.; carrying to tho .accumulated fund tho' sum of £73 Bs. 3d. During the period undor review a tea kiosk lias been erected and' furnished, capable of seating 800 peoplo, aud substantial alterations have been mado to tho members' stand, whilo a new bar and increased tdtalisator accommodation aro at present under construction. After providing for tho • abovo-mentioned expenditure, tho mortgage account has been Tcduced by £2000, and now stands at £15,000. The patronage accorded by ownors and the public generally during the past year showed a substantial increase. 'The following office-bearers retire, in accordance with the rules: —President, Mr. J. B. Harcourt; vice-president, Mr. J. H. B. Coates; stewards, Messrs. J. G. Duncan, W. G. Johnston, Neil M'Lean, and R. T. Turnbull; auditors, Messrs. E. Bucholz and' A. S. MacShano,' all being eligible for ro-election.
