(1) committing arson by sotting; fire to i a dwelling in Treaclo Lane, Hastings, on August li; and (2) with making a false , declaration relatiug to cortain goods in--3 sured in the State Office for £100, and . partly destroyed and damaged. He had a declared that there was no other insurance, and that certain effects left out , in the schcdulo were destroyed or dam- . aged. Also that the valuo of the goods , destroyed and damaged was £143 12s. i It was alleged that ho know that theso declarations wero false. In conjunction r with Nellie Wells, Macnamara was also 3 charged with conspiring to defraud the J Gfuardian Assurance Company, Limited, r. in effecting an insurance against loss by l fire in respect of certain eii'eots. Twenty--9 one witnesses were called for the prose- , cution. The ohargo of conspiracy was - dismissed.
