' WHAT CAUSED DEATH? • , Au inquiry into the circumstaaiceß ( Surrounding the death of the man who expired in Taranaki Stroorfe at 9.30 a.m. on Thursday took place before the ooronor, Dr. M'Arthur; S.M., at tho Magistrate's Court yesterday morning. - Dr. Thomas stated that in the absence in the Btomach of poisons, it was ' difficult to say what tho cause of death was. The only , suggestion which ho could make was that death had' taken place from the effects of alcohol on an empty stomacih, , ' Police evidence was to the effect that the body had not yot been identified. 'Adjutant Green, of the Salvation Army Home, had stated that deceased stayed ' at the Home on tho night of September 1, and gave tho name of Rcid. This information was the best 'that oould be secured. A verdict was returned to the 'effect that, failing a return by tlie Govern- , ment Analyst showing the existence of poisons, tho only conclusion is that embraced in. the medical evidence before the Court. . Later in the day it was ascertained that deceased was a married man named Charles Minchington (28), and > tha.i\ he Ivas a labourer residing in Tui Street.
