Other fillip-owning companies lilt.c themselves had been surprised by the recent largo increaso in expenditure in coastal trade, duo to increases in wages and a decrease in tho working hours ol tho employees. ■ To make up a portion of this drift some of tho freight raleE wero increased last July, and probabh further increases/will bo forced upoi tho company.
