At tho inquest on tho victims of tho Dublin tenement houso disaster, Mrs. Ryan,. owner of tho houses, gave evidence that she was next door at the time of tho disaster, but was not hurt. Mr. Derham, an inspector, gavo evidence that tho repairs had been carried out properly by Mrs. Ryan. The houses wero a century old. A corporation inspector in July last directed that certain improvements bo made to this tenement houses that collapsed. The repairs wero duly carried out. Tho accident is likely to lead to nn inquiry regarding the Dublin slums, which are the worst in tho United Kingdom. Twenty thousand families, approximately one-third of tho population, " aro living in one-roomed tenements. . A pathetic discovery was made in tho ruins. Tho body of a little boy in a cot- was found. There was a look of terror on the tear-stained face of tho child. One hand was clasping the bedclothes convulsively.
