TENEMENT HOUSES COLLAPSE.
« DREADFUL TRAGEDY IN DUBLIN. THIRTEEN FAMILIES BURIED. DISTRESSING SCENES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrlffht London, September 2. Two tenement houses collapsed in Ejublin, and thirteen families were buried in tlio ruins. Four of the dead havo already been recovered. 'It is feared there will bo a heavy death-roll. . (Rcc. September 3, 9.35 p.m.) Dublin, September 3. • Seven bodies, including thoso of several pedestrians who were passing tho tenements at tho time of the collapse, havo beeii recovered; Tho buildings wore okl and ■ dilapidated. Tho tenements woro situated in tlio oldest part of'tho city and inliabitated by poor working people. Olio man was in bed. Others woro sitting on tho door-stops, and the children wero playingi on tlio pavement. Tlio first house collapsed with a tremendous crash, .without any .warning, and tlio second soon followed. -Tho majority of tho occupants escaped, while tlio families in tho adjoining houses fled terror-stricken. The third liouse is oil -tlio verge of collapso. Eight bodies, including that of a mother clasping her baby, wero soon recovered from tho wreckage that had fallon on tho streets. Tho others wero buried under tons of brick and mortar. In ono caso a woman who had put her fivo children to bod in ono room returned to find them all buried. A man's dead body, with a 'living dog and kitten, wero found in another room.
