CRICKET, PRESENT POSITION OF CLUBS. OLD BOYS' PROPOSAL. The Management Committee of tho Wellington Cricket Association met last evening, Mr. Al. Luckio presiding. Tho principal business was an application from the AVellington College Old Boys Cricket Club asking permission to enter an eleven for the senior competition for tho coming season. This application camo at rather an awkward time, for just recently tho association abolished tho district scheme, but in so doing passed a resolution to the effect that no now senior elevens should be admitted during the 1913-14 and tho 191415 seasons, otlher than tho present senior grade clubs. After a little mixed discussion, Mr. Crombie moved to the cffect that the Old Boys Club bo advised that tho resolution already passed did not permit of their entering a senior team at present. It was decided, however, to invite tho Old Boys' delegates to attend the association's annual meeting, and, if they so desired, speak in support of tlieir proposals. The dato of tilio annual meeting of the association was fixed for September 26. The chairman mentioned that, now that tho district sdhomo had been changed, any club which so desired; could affiliate with tho association, irrespective of tho district which tliey bolonged to. It was reported that the matter of effecting repairs to tho practice wickets on the Basin Reserve had been commenced oil Monday last. RUGBY. •REINFORCEMENT. Jones, a member of tho Australian Rugby football team, who missed tho steamor at Sydney last week, will arrive direct from that port to-day. ASSEMBLING THE ALL BLACKS. Tho 'members of the New Zealand team which has been selected to tour California will assemble in Wellington on Friday, and will put up at the Grand Hotel. The fact that tho team is being assembled only a day before it has to meet the Australian fifteen here is hardly in. favour of its chances, as that ever essential factor—combination —must to a great extent bo lacking. Still, the team is thought to be a solidly representative one, and should put up a good game against the visitors. The New Zealand team is to leave for San Francisco by tho Willochra on Friday week (September 12). CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. If tho AVellington Rugby Referees' Association call muster a touring fifteen, they aro to go to Christcliureh to play a match against tlift Christchurch re-, fereos on tho dato of tlio WellingtonCanterbury representative match. Tho Christchurch referees challenged the local men,, and at special meeting this week it was decided to accept tho challenge. ST. PATRICK'S COLLEGE. Tho annual fixture boU'een past and present students of St. Patrick's College will tako place to-day at Kclburno Park. Tho Old Boys' team will include such well-known players as Dr. M'Evedy, Lynch, and M'Kenzio, of the New Zealand team to tour California, and Sullivan, of the Oriental Club. The following arc the teams I iPrcscnt Students: Varloy, M'Laren, Brownlio, Campion (2), M'Carthy, Bergiii, Hodgins, Moore, Barry, Lawlor, Parsons, and Seymour. Past Students: Dr. M'Evedy, Madden, J. (By Telegraph.—Prjsa Association) Stratford, September 2. The Wellington school representatives played the Stratford High School this afternoon at Victoria Park. Tho local boys wore too good for tho visitors in every department of the game. They started scoring in two minutes and rattled up 34 points in the first spell, but wero assisted by a strong wind. Turning round the visitors pressed play into tho local twenty-five, whero it remained for most of the time. Holmes received a pass from M'Cabe, and after a dodgy run, scored at the corner. Another Wellington player picked up after a spoilt passing rush and got over, but tlio kick failed. Coutts then scored twice for Stratford and tho same player landed a goal. The final score was: Stratford, 42 points; Wellington, 6 points. The Stratford scorers were: Fryday (tlireo tries), Campbell, Tait, and Kivell (ono each), Coutts (four tries and a potted goal).
