$ SUMMARY AND FORECAST.
Present indications aro for westerly winds, strong to gale, generally. Squally and showery weather, with heavy rain on the Wost Coast and southern districts. The barometer will probably rise temporarily in the south, but fall again soon for a westerly storm. An improvement in weather conditions was reported on the East Cca-st thin morning, but cold, showery, and changeable weather Ims prevailed. Featherston, September 2.—Fine, bright day. , Taihape, September ".—Light rain in tlie morning! dull and threatening afternoon; weather cold; light, northerly wind. Wanganui, September 2.—Cold, boisterous south-wester all day; passing clouds. Jtastorton, Setpember 2.—Hild, but cloudy. Palmerston North, September 2.—Bright; occasional showers.
