"EVERYMAN'S ENCYCLOPAEDIA."
« The sixth volume —Fat-Gra —of Messrs. Dent and Co.'s admirable "Everyman's Encyclopaedia" (to bo 4 completed in twelve volumes, at fiftccn- ; pence each) is to hand from Messrs. 1 Whitcombo and Tombs. A notable leature is an exceptionally well written 1 article of twenty-five pages (50 columns) on Germany. The biblio- ' raphy attached to this article, while no ' doubt adequate so far as German authorities aro concerned, is singularly 1 weak in its references to English works on the subject. It would be easy to ! mention at least twenty more or less ' important works, by Englishmen, or I English translations of German works, the titles of which are omitted. As m previous volumes the biographies aro much more numerous than in many 1 much more pretentious works of this " kind. A cheaper and more useful work 3 of reference, especially for the evory--1 day reador, who wants his information in "pcmmican" form, could not well bo " imagined than this "Everyman's Ency- ' clopacdia."
