Detectives state that many infants are murdered in and around Melbourne every year, and in not ouo case out of a hundred is tho culprit discovered. No clue is ever left. The. last occasion, when a woman was arrested, after strangling . and abandoning her child, was in 1898. Tho fact that tho child had been vaccinated enabled the detectives to trace the mother.
