A few months 11 ago he had received a legacy of £70, n from Melbourno, but 110 had expended 3 this on household necessities, h Mr. V.'cbb, who appeared for bankrupt, stated that the case was one of iS pure misfortune. Bankrupt had a wife 0 and four children, and there had been ,2 a great deal of sickness in the family. Ho had dono his best, and during the past 22 months he had paid his way, s but on ,his earnings he could not posa sibly pay off the back debts. l » After expressing themselves somewhat 3 strongly regarding the position of af--0 fairs, the creditors separated without coming to any decision. Messrs. W. P. Shortt, Ltd., of Willis Street, have leased their furniture showroom to Mr. W. 1?: Gates, of "the Amcrih can Lounge." ICnowlcs-Smith in the 0 morning, Bcv. .7. G. Husrhcs, D.D., in the 0 afternoon, and by Kev. ,J. K. Elliott, 8.A., '■ in the evening. For several weeks past tl the choirmaster, Mr. W. If. Godier, has been training a choir of some SO voices ill if preparation for tho anniversary. The collections at all services are in aid of the fl school.
