——f AUCKLAND COUNCIL CAMPAIGN. £ (By TeleifrapUz-Hpetlil Oarrcaponttoat.) 11 Auckland, August 29. £ In consequenco of several complaints that had been mado by tramway con- j ( ductors and others of tho dangerous c nature of long and unprotected hat- n pins worn by many members of the fair jj sex, tho municipal authorities exhibited great activity last week regarding tho enforcement of tho hatpin by-law. Notwithstanding that this by-law was adopted by tho City Council.two months ago, tho practice of wearing dangerous hatpins has not ccased. Two municipal inspectors spent an afternoon in travelling on different tramcars, with the result that a number of ladies' were found to. bo transgressing tho by-law, V They are to be invited to justify their j conduct by appearing at tho Polico Court shortly. It is understood that over 40 cases of breaches of tho by-law wore reported'.
