CANADA AND THE NAVY
——» . AT THE IMPERIAL-ROUND TABLE. Bjr Telegraph—Press Association- -CopyTighl "Times"—Sydney "Sun" Special Cables, (llec. August, 28, 6.55 p.m.) London, August 28. The Toronto correspondent of tho London "Times" says that although the Australian Government and the Imperial authorities favour the proposed Pa-, cific Naval Conference at Vancouver, it is doubtful whether Canada is ready for such a conference. The disposition of the Dominion Government is to adopt tho, policy of New Zealand in preference to the policy of Australia. . Tho Montreal "Herald" urges an Imperial Confcrenco of wider scope than any previously held. Tho naval question, says the "Herald," involves issues so vast that almost any sacrifice would be justified in order to reach tho right solution of tho problem, and unless some plan is applied for all the oversea Dominions an era of chaos is likely to continue. "It is inevitable that tho naval policy for somo timo to como will continue to bo a party question in Canada."
