The productiveness of tho pumice country in the Taupe region is abundantly proved by the fact that two tons of chaff to tho aero have been cut in tho Waiotapu district. Clover, Lotus Major, Russian Rye, and Turnips aro ,grown with equal profit on this class of soil, oven with little or no cultivation or manure, while with artilicial manures and a few years' cultivation all kinds of farm crops can bo grown v on this land of a quality not easily 'surpassed . anywhere in New Zealand.
