He has also passed the subjects for M.A. degree with second-class honours. Mr. Harold Hamilton, son of Mr. A. Hamilton, director of tho Dominion Museum, and at present engaged in biological work with tho Mawson party at Macijuario Island, has been offered and has accepted the position of curator to tho Newtown Municipal Museum, Wellington, subject to his being permitted to finish his work with the Mawson expedition. With other members of tho party, Mr. Hamilton will bo picked up bv tho Aurora in February next, and will go down to the Ice Barrier in that vessel to bring back Dr. Mawson and his party. The president and the secretary of tho Overseas Club at Waihi (Messrs. Gibson and Johnson) aro both seriously ill, and at last night's meeting of tho Wellington Overseas Club a voto was passed expressing the hops that they would both speedily recover. Guests at the Grand Hotel who arrived yesterday included Messrs. E. and N. J. Short; Feilding; F. H. P. Ashwin, Auckland; W. F. and H.-lu-d<3r, Gore; W. T. Penny, Palmorston North; Martin Elgar, Featherston; J, W. M'Dougnll, Featherston; Hope Gibbons, Wanganui; and S. Otley, Christchurch. Now arrivals at tho Empire Hotel yesterday were:—Mr. and Mrs.' Buchanan, Wairarapa ; Mr. and Mrs. Fowler, Nelson; Miss 11. Meredith, Masterton; Messrs. A. J. Stephens, Christchurch ; M. H. Coombs, Dunedin; Lillico, Timaru; F. Whitlock, Wanganui; N. L. Gurr, Dannevirke; W. E. Wilson, Wanganui; A. M'Mahon, Palmerston North; M. Tanscy, Dannevirke; and C. Hewett, Melbourno. Mr. Elwood Mead, chairman of the Victorian State Rivers and Water Supply Commission, has resigned the chairmanship, having accepted a position in California.
