V — The Masterton and Carterton Golf Clubs will try conclusions on the Taratalii links on Thursday afternoon. The Carterton team will bo: —Messrs. G. T. Fenwick, W. H. Bootli, J. Steel, B. Booth, H. Hart, R. W. Roydhouso, P. Shankland, H. M'Kinnon, A. Booth, E. Eaglo, L. Aplin, N. Armstrong, and 0. lleid; . Mr. E. M'Konzic has been appointed' manager of the Wairarapa representative football team, which loaves on its southern tour on Thursday mornina next. The Wairarapa Terminating Buildings Society will hold a ballot for £300 oil Thursday'cvening. A poll was taken to-day on tho pro posal to raise a loan of £5000 for improving tho water works. The result was:—For, '11; against, 136; informal, G. The chief objection to the proposal was that the six-inch pipe proposed was not sufficient, the majority favouring a nine-inch pipe.
