The Delphic, however, will not come to t.ho wharf at Wellington beforo soiling. Afterwards she goes to Newcastle to load for ths West Onait. of South America. WHANGAPE IN A STORM. The Union Company's collier lVhimgape, which left Nowea'stlo at 6 p.m. on August 19, arrived in the stream at Wellinrton at 7 a.m. yestflrday. Fair weather was experienced till Cook Strait was entered, and then tho et earner met tho full force of the gale which wrecked the Devon. Stephen Island was passed on Monday morning, and, towards evendng, the weather became bo bad that the collicr was compelled to 6eek shelter under Long Island. She remained at anchor till 1 ci.th. yesterday, and arrived in port as stated above. In addition to a large cargo of cool, the Whang-ane ha<? 300 tons of timber to land hero. She returns to Newcastle to load again for Wellington. . ROTORTJA'S LOADING PORTS. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company'a Hotorua leaves Wellington for. Lyttelton to-day. The coastal steamer Miangapaipa is expected to load at Wellington for Kara.mea and West port to-day. The Echo will got away from Wellington for Picton to-morrow. Bad weather has held back the Oorimna in tho -south. _ She is not expected to arrivo at Wellington till to-morrow, and she loaves on the same day for Nelson and Now Plymouth. At the latter port she will tranship cargo for Onehunga. As the outcome of tho recent layins up of intercolonial steamerß in conscauonoo of the opidemdc of smallpox amd tie fall-ing-off of the timber and coal trade, which necessitated tho temporary stoppage of a number of colliers, it is stated tliatsevoral offlcors of long service on this coast havo (saya a southern paper) found it necessary to seek situations elsewhere, and have left for Australia, wlhero better inducements aire offered. The Anchor Lino's steamer Nikoro will bo laid up at Nelson for one trip next week. Tho Radtofl, will leave Wdlinigton for Nelson arad Motueka on Tuesday next.
