CIVIL BUSINESS. MUSIC TEACHER'S ACCOUNT. ■ In tho Magistrate's Court yesterday, G. B. Hulbert claimed from Marius I'rederickson, £1 145., £1 lis. 6d. of which was fOr tuition in music, and 2s. 6d. for a music book. Plaintiff conducted his own. case, and Sir. J. F. W T . Dickson represented tho defendant Defendant admitted that there had been some tuition of his child, but alleged ' that plaintiff had not imparted any knowledge of theory. Sir. W. G. Riddell, S.M., gave judgment for plaintiff for £1 2s. 9d., with costs 6s. FOR 1- (JRNITUIIE. Hearing was concluded in the case in which Annie Gertrude Cranny sued John and May Bailey for the return of certain articles of furniture, or £10 in lieu thereof. Mr. W. F. Sim appeared for tlio plaintiff, and Mr. P. W. Jackson for tne defendants. ■ Judgment was delivered by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., in favour of tho plaintiff. LAND AGENTS' CLAIM. Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., concluded the hoaring of evidence on the claim of Longinore and Co., land agents, v. Whit-combo and Tombs, booksellers and 'publishers, for £112 10s., as commission on the sale of tho property formerly owned by Sir John Findlay. Mr. D. M. Fiirdlay appeared for tho plaintiffs, and Mr. A. Blair for the defendants. - Judgment was reserved. BREACHES .OF AWARD. Two cases of breach of award were dealt with by Dr. M'Arthur, S.M. Conrad and Co., butchers, were fined £1 for 'having employed a non-unionist without notifying tho Labour Department. Mr. P. H. Putnam, who appeared for the defendants, stated that his clients had only recently gono into the business, aaid' 'had dispensed with the non-unionist as soon as they , became aware that- tho award had been broken.
Julius Lamberg was fined £4 for having failed to keep a time-book for three drivers. A chargo against Lamberg of having dismissed S. Carpenter, a dnvtr, without giving him a week's notice was adjourned b'.i the application of Mr. Tring'ham, who appeared as counscl for the defendant. DEFAULT DEBTORS. POLICE SIDE. THEFT FROM CHINESE TILL. George ll'llroy fined £1 for having broken a prohibition order. Frank O'Brien Gillespie was sentenced to two weeks' imprisonment for the theft of £1 '2s. from the shop of Wong Wall. Tin* money was stolon on three separate occasions from the till in the shop.
