(From Our Special Correa pond cut.) J A social gathering under tlie auspices of the .Saturday Recreation Society took placo in St. Augustiiio's Hall, Petone, Inst evening. Mrs. Pollock supplied the music, and Mr. 11. Stewart was M'.C. Tlio Petono Municipal Band 'held a smoko concert last evening. Tho Mayor (Air. J. W. M'Bwan) presided. Tlio band's balance-sheet indicated that the receipts for tho year we.ro £136 15s. 6d., and Hie expenditure £131 12s. lOd. TOio assotsi wore £279 19s. 2(1., and tho liabilities £152 10s. 3d. Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.l'., visited the Hutt, and. Petono High Schools on Thursday, audi presented scarves to Masters Bowers and. Bale (Hutt), and Master King (Petone), in lionour of tlheir being, chosen as representatives in t.lio public schools' football team. .•
