ALC.OCK CIIYSTALATE CDP. ■ Despite stormy weather, a large concourse of spectators gathered at Aloock'g rooms last evening, and, although extra seating accommodation had been provided, this proved inadequate. It was no doubt tho first game (Congdon v. .Grimstone) that formed , the chief attraction, and onlookers were treated to a rare display of good billiards. Congdon, who has fine execution, gave a crisp and clean exhibition. Being favoured -with tho run of tho balls, he soon settled down to serious' billiards, and ran up 161 points in nine cups, including a nico break of 85, whicli, however, was imanrcd by two "flukes." Grimstone, on the other hand, could do nothing right, an dwas battling against great odds, the score at one stage being called, "Congdon 164 plays 12." . At another stage the marker called, "Congdon 249 plays 124." Grimstone, however, battled gamely, and, when his opponent only required seven, points for game, ho -made a useful run of 35, having the misfortune to loso the white, and followed with _ a magnificent doublo baulk, which received an ovation. Congdon replied with, 5, broke down, and Grimstone strung together another useful 29, breaking down in attempting a masso loser. Congdon, however, failed to scoro, and Grimstone replied with a 4, and gavo a miss in banlk, and at his next visit ran up another 22. He, however left the red over the pocket, and Congdon quickly took advantage of this, and ' thus won a- very exciting game by 58 points. ■ Tho. final scores Were: Congdon 300, Grimstone 242. Tho winner made breaks of 85, 2!), and 23 and Grimstone's breaks were 37, 35! 2'J, and 22.

Tho second gamo (Hamilton v. Corson) , was won by tiio last-named by 72 points. The final .scores wero: Corson 300, Hamilton 282.

To-night's semi-finals begin at 7.15, and the competitors will be Corson (IVtouo) and Coiigdon (Mastorton). At 8..10 p.m., Warren and Devino will meet.
