ROWING.

THE STAR CLUB'S' REPORT. The Star Boating Club lias issued its forty-seventh annual report. It mentions that the wear and tear on tho plant during the past season has been heavy. Repairs and maintenance amounted to £20 greater than last season, although £14 of that amount'covered tho cost of several new sets of outriggers. Interest on the bank balance increased slightly, showing that members aro not paying their subscriptions as promptly as they might. After keeping the plant in a stato of usefulness, and after making .provision for bad and doubtful debts, the year has ended in, a loss of £38 2s. lOd. This (adds the report) is regrettable, but is partly accounted for by the purchase of tho ."College Four" (£3O), which in the ordinary course would have come into next year's expenditure. It is, however, manifest that the active members] list is below that required to meet ordinary expenditure. Tho total, membership.is now 370, 33 new members having been elected during the year. The club racing season was disappointing. A few have shown much enthusiasm, but.'the great bulk of members have not given club racing wholehearted support. Weather conditions throughout tho season were again unfavourable. The committee thanks Messrs. Bridge, Cooper, Lambert, and Newton, and all tliose who gave their assistance as coaches to the club. During the past season tlie club's senior crew gave members a splendid example of how to train, and their final success at tho Wellington regatta was well deserved. Good work was also done by tlie o'ther crews, of which the committee is appreciative, but at the same time it thinks that had tho junior crew been more regular and less spasmodically strenuous in their preparation they woiild have met with greater success.
