ASSESSMENT COURT.
•LAND AT PARAPARAUMU A sitting of tho Assessment Court was hold yesterday. Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., presided), and tho assessors wero Messrs. 0. P. Lynch and H. E. Leighton. , The day was occupied in tho hearir/g of objections respecting tho valuation of Certain lands at Paraparaumn. Tho Objector was W. J. Howell, who was represented by Mr. F. Newman. The Department was represented by Messrs. F. N. Martin and S. Hill, and tlio Native lessors by Mr. M. F. Luckie. The land is in the Ngaiara West Block, and tho valuations are as follow: —Section 2a, 23 acres: Government valuation, £1506; objector's valuation, £1120. Section 3c, 46 aorcs: Government valuation, £620; £440. Section 4, 150 acres: Government valuation, £1498; objector's, £975. Part Section 35, IOS acres: Objection to apportionment of improvements. Section 3a, 46 acres: Government valuation, £1124; objector's,-£832. Section' 2b, 29 acres, objection ■' to apportionment of improvements. Parts of Sections 2c and 3a, ono aore: 'Government valuation, £37; objector's, £20. Section 3b, 46 acres: Government valuation, £864; objector's', £552. Part Section 3 and part ParaparaUnru Nntive Reservo: Government valuation. £80: objector's, £40. Part of last-named Section, H acres; Government valuation, £46; objector's, £20. Evidenco was heard alul tho matter was not concluded when the Court roso for tho day. Tho Court will sit again on September 5.
