The Russian Ambassador to Italy, ill an interview published in tho "Giornalo d'ltalia," declares that Russia is resolved on a pacific yet vigorous policy in tho Balkans, and will enlorco respect for tho Treaty of London. _ Herr von Stumm, Director of the Political Department of tho Gsrman Foreign Office, in recoiling ail Adnianoplo deputation in Berlin, is reported to have said that Germany v wxmld always bo Turkey's friend, and would not "desert her mow. TURKEY AND THE BULQARB. THREAT OF BOMBARDMENTS (Reo. August 24, 5,5 p.m.) London, August 24. Advioos from Salonika state that tho Turkish fleet is at Saros awaiting the Greek evacuation of Dedeagatch. The Consuls havo been warned that tho Turks will .bombard the town in the event of a Bulgarian entry. Tho Powers are also sending warships to Dedeagat-cli. ATROCITIES DENIED. COUNTERCHARGES AGAINST TURKS. (Reo. August 24, 5.5 p.m.) Sofia, August 23. Bulgaria 'has ratified tho Bukarest Treaty. A semi-official statement from Sofia denies the "Daily Telegraph" story of Bulgarian atrocities, and declares that the report has ®jeen invented to alienate European sympathies. Bulgaria accuses tho Greeks of seizing Bulgarian notables, and burning villages and robbing tho inhabitants. Many notables wero killed, and it i 3 asserted that tho Turks killed many of th'o prisoners they captured. 1 The Turks have entered Kirjali, and tho. population are fleeing to tho interior. Tho Government has protest ed to the Powers. Athens, August 24. Tho Greeks, havo surrendered Gumurjina, but have not surrendered Xanthi, owing to tho refusal of tho Bulgarians, to sign a regular protocol.
