OBITUARY.
LATE MRS. GILBERT CARSON,
It was with deep regret that the many friends of Mrs. Gilbert Carson learnt of her death, which took place in Wanganui on Friday, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. C. W. Gaze. In 1864, with her mother and sisters, the deceased lady arrived in 'Auckland from Great Britain in tho ship John Duncan, one of the four vessels that brought out tho sottlers for Albert Land. In 1866 sho was married to Mr. Gilbort 'Carson, in Auckland, and lived ■there till 1868, when she and her husband Temoved to Wellington. In 1874, when Mr. Carson took over the Wanganui "Chronicle," they took up their residence in Wanganui, where they have lived ever since. The late Mrs. Carson had been failing for some time, but the end came somewhat suddenly, following a severe attack of bronchitis and pneumonia. The deceased lady was 77 years of ago, and leaves a widower and a grown-up family of two sons and two daughters —Mr. William Carson, Mrs. C. W. Gaze, and Miss A. M.. Carson, all of Wanganui, and Mr. Fred. G. Carson, of To Matai, near To Puke. Her sister, Mrs. G.' F. Mauson, of Wanganui, also survives her..
