THE CRYSTALATE CUP, The second round of -tlio Alcock Ctystalate Cup contest was completed on Saturday evening' beforo a good company of spectators, ladies being present. The form was somewhat below tlio averago that has so far been shown. The first match, H. J. Simson (Wanganui) V.' C. W. Steward, was very patchy and the players wore often beaten by the strict standard pockets, Steward especially. He is a much better cuist than his display on Saturday would lead 0110 to believe. Simson, on the other hand, did not seem to take his game seriously enough, and ho broke down at some very easy shots when in good position. The final scores were: Simson, 300; Steward, 248. The winner's best breaks were: 25, 24, arid 17. In tlio second game, Devino v. Ward, tlio former had matters all his own way, and being favoured with the run of tlio spheres, eventually readied liis points whilo his opponent only got half way. Devine was striking his hazards in good style, and will bo a hard man to boat. His best break's were: 25, 34, and 18. To-night at 7.15 o'clock, H.. I. Simson plays Devine, and at 8.30 Liptrott meets. Warren. . Poison dofaulted to Warren on Saturday.
