STREET NOISES.
Sir,—l was very pleased to read in Tile Dominion of even date that the City Council are considering the advisability of..taking action in connection .with ;street noises. I notice that Councillor Fletcher said that the nuisance was becoming • intolerable. I happen to have an offico close to Mr. Fletcher, and presume'that, he had in' his mind at the time he spoke the perfectly dreadful din that is niada by tJie telegraph messengers, who use"motor bicycles. I understand that a person who understands motor bicycles need not inflict this torture on people, and I would suggest that the officer in: charge take steps to have , : these. boys instructed in the proper use of their machines. I am not exaggerating when I say that it is impossible to hear a conversation on the telephone when these boys are about. —I am, etc., PAX.
