SCHOOLS & THE BIBLE.
A meeting of tho Central Committee of tho "Wellington provinco was held at St. John's Church, oil Thursday evening. Dr. Gibb presided over a largo attendanca of i meinbors. Reports were received, as to tho attitude towards tho referendum of members of Parliament for tho electorates in tho Wellington province. A. committee of laymen was appointed to consider what arrangements should bo mado for tho finding and supporting of candidates at t'lio next general election who were prepared to trust tho people, and allow; them to dccido tlio matter, tho commit' ' teo to confer with Canon Garland,, tho organising secretary, and report to tho next meeting of tho Central Committee. It was decided that tho united prayer meetings bo continued, tlio last Monday evening iu every month being fixed as tho day. A report was received that tho Women's League had determined to rniso one thousand guineas as an evidence of tho earnestness of tho women of tho Dominion to have religious instruction to* 6tored to tho State schools.
