BUTTER SEASON OUTLOOK.
PROSPECTS BRIGHT,
(By Telojraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, August 22. In tho courso of his- address at tha ii.uii.ual meeting of the Now Zealand Dairy Association at Pukekolie, tho chairman of directors (Mr. JVesley Spragg) said that tho outlook for the present season was about equal to that of last year. There ■was no indication that the extreme prices of two years -ago would bo reachod, but thero was equally no prospect of a period of poor prices again returning if advantage was taken of herd-testing, attention was given to culling herds, and foretliiouglit was taken in making provision to avoid summer drought and winter shortage of food for cattle. If farm and factory both strove to produce with skill, care, and cleanliness, New Zealand farmers might, barring-tho unexpected, look with confidence for a continued and increased prosperity in which tho country as a whole must participate. Tho season, liad opened well, better than 'ever before, and bigger yields and bigger cheques with allround expansion and advantage might be looked for.
