The Union Company's collier Wadtemata, which arrived at Lyttelton with, a of Newcastle coal on Wednesday, experienced a very trip. Tlio vessel left Nev.T-aet.le on August 13, at 5.30 a.m., and immediately ran into a strong S.S.W. gale, which, although it moderated sliglitly, continued all the following day. At 5 p.m. on August 14 a heavy sea crashed on board and stove in tlio fore part of the upper bridge. The Waitemata was then hove-to, and it was not until 6 o'clock the following morning that tho journey was recommenced. She is expected to sail for Timaru with the balanco of her cargo on Auguet 25. CORINTHIO AT PLYMOUTH. Advices received by the looal office of the Shaw. Savill, and Albion Co. state that the R.M.B. Oorinthic, which left Wellington for London, via way ports, on July 10, arrived at hor destination on August 21— time-ta.blo date. The vessel is to leave London on September 11 for Wellington, where 6he is duo on October 28. TYSEK SAILINGS. A projected departure from London on Thursday was the Tyser Line's steamer Norohana, outward bound for Wellington, via Australian and northern ports. She is due at Wellington on October 11. The Nerehana will be followed by the Muritai, which steamer is fixed to leave Home on September 9, and due here on November 18. Tho Marere, of the same line, is to sail from Livorpool on September 6, for Auckland direct and other New Zear land ports. J HINEMOA FOE THE SOUTH. Captain Post resumed command of tho Hinemoa, when she left Wellington yesterday for lior southern cruise. Tho vessel will bo away for about three weeks. ™E DEFENDER, There is every possibility of the steamer Defender being commissioned again shorts ly. Captain A. P. WatcMin, of the Terawfliiti.' who has gone ashore on holiday, is being relieved by Captain Hilton, late of tho Haupiri.

The Now Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Kaikoura arrivcct at Hobart from London yesterday. Sho is due at Auckland on August 27.

The Wihite Star liner Zoalandio is timed to loavo Livorpool on October 4 for New Zealand ports. Sho is duo at Auckland on November 9.

Carrying a full' cargo of coal, timber, and coke for Wellington, the Whangape, from Nowcastlo should arrive here either on Sunday night or Monday morning.

Tho Waipori is expected to arrive tomorrow from Melbourne, via- southern ports. Eho will sail on Monday for Westport.

Mr. H. Olsen left tho Npatoro yesterday to join the Ngahero as first mate. Mr. Wm. Mul'r, who has been first mato on the Ngahore, has taken oommand of tho Ngatoro. and Mt. A. Dowell, who has been acting skipper of tho lost-mentioned vessel, lias signed on as fisst mate.

The F. and fl. liner Westmeath. which is now en route from Liverpool to Wellington, via ports, will arrive at Auckland on Monday. She will be at Wellington on September 1, and, after discharge, will proceed to Lyttelton land Dunedin to complete discharge. Thence sho will proceed to Australian ports to load.

In continuation of her voyage from London to Wellington, via Australian ports, Auckland and Napier, the TyEer boat Indralema sailed from Sydney on Thursday, and is duo bore on September 4. Sho will finish discharge here, and will then begin to "fill up" for Homo.

The steamer Araliura is to como off the Evans Bay Patent Blip on Monday. She will sail for Picton on Tuesday.
