The House of Eepresentatives met at C.'!o p.m. On the motion of Mr. C. E. Statham the Defence Committee was granted an extension of time of four weeks within Which to report " QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE. A MINISTER'PROTESTS. Mr. T. E. Y. SEDDON (Westknd) tosked the Minister for Mines to take into 'consideration the desirability of. adding ''Mr. Wobb fto the Goldlields and Mines ■Committee. Mr. Wobb represented more Ininers than any present member of the committee. Tho Hon. W., ERASER: I ask the honourable gentleman to put tho question on the Order Paper. He added 'that a practice had grown up of asking questions without notice almost every day. Mr. Seddon said, that Mr. Webb lad teen promised by a Minister, of the Grown that ho would bo placed upon the Jlinea Committee. . Mr. Eraser said that the practice m the past had been that any member wanting on answer to an urgent question should go to the Minister in question and ask him if ho had any objection to answering it. This, however, was being departed from. Recently ho had answered some twenty questions without notice, and only one member ont of tlifi'fc iiiimber had como to him beforehand. He did not tbialt there wuld be any difficnltv about tha nmttor mentioned by Mr. Seddon.
