' Wangnnui failed to withstand ilia first challenge f<Sr Hie recently-won Nordou Cup, and consequently the challengers Waikato, will take t'lio tup home with tliem to-morrow. The game was played in Cook's Gardens this afternoon, under, ideal weather conditions. The attendance wis good and the ground in capital order, Wanganui won the toxs, and soon after the bully-off Gower had a shot, but the goalkeeper kicks out. Hunter was handy and scored. Ten minutes later Jacobs™ scored anil Waikato wore two goals up. Then tlio visitors' keeper was enticcd to leave liis goal, and .Hodges shot An easy one. Before half-time Wailiato scored two more goals per medium of Hunter, who was playing a dashing game. Tho position at halt'-timo was four to 0110 in favour of Waikato. The second half was much more even, tho only score coming from Brown, this player finding the net (.fter a fine solo effort. Time sounded with Waikato the winners of the Nordoa Cup by four goals to two. The game all through was marked by a lino spirit. Tho visitors'* ere entertained at dinner this evening, and the trophy was banded to Dr. Gower, captain of the Wiakato team. ...
