BIG RAILWAY SCHEME.
THREE MILLION LOAN FOR NEW SOUTH WALES.
PROPOSAL CENSURED.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, August 21. Cabinet has approved the three million railway construction scheme of tho Norton Griffiths Company, subject to Parliamentary endorsement. (liec. August 22, 0.30 a.m.) Sydney, August 21. In tho Assembly, Mr. Wade (Leader of the Opposition) gave notice of motion that tho agreement with the Norton. Griffiths Company "is highly unsatisfactory, and fraught with great danger to this State." Mr. Ilolnian (Premier) immediately moved tho adjournment of the Assembly till Tuesday, in -order to consider the position "created by this fresh censune motion." It is considered that Mr. Wade's motion shows strategy. Mr. A. Griffith (Minister fcr Public Works) had already announced that the Norton Griffiths agreement, when submitted to the House, would not bo treated as a party question. The Government may, with its slightmajority, defeat Mr. Wade's censure motion, but subsequently must vote in favour of the agreement in order to be consistent. Griffiths, Australia, Ltd., a branch of the Norton Griffiths Company, London, has undertaken to expend ,£3,000,000 on the construction of railways, including the remaining sections of tho North Coast and Condobolin and Broken Hill lines. The company secures the £3,000,000 at .current ratesof interest, as required, and will provide a straff of engineers to supervise tho work, receiving remuneration at the rate of 5 per cent, on the cost of the work.
