(From Our Suecial Correspondent.) • Tlia additions to tlie refrigerating department at the Waingawa freezing works will be completed about Christmas. The new machinery, including a refrigerator, will be to hand about Christmas. It is expected that in the coming season 3000 sheep per day will be handled. . The Masterton Dairy Company opened its season on Monday last with a satisfactory supply of milk. It is expected tliat the supply of milk this season will be double that of last season. A motorlorry has been procured, with which to collect cream from farmers' homesteads.

A motor-car belonging to Mr. S. Harris was destroyed by lire yesterday. Mr. Harris had conveyed a shooting party to the country, and while they were in pursuit of gams the car took fire, and was completely ruined. The car was insured. Simeon. Tuke, a well-known young Native of this distinct, died at the Te Ore Ore pa on Tuesday. The Natives in this district are complaining bitterly at the suspension of sittings of the Native Land Board, on, account of the outbreak of smallpox in the north. The local Natives consider that this district, being clean, and as they are ■allowed to mingle with Europeans at picture shows and elsewhere; there wire be very little danger of contagion being spread through the holding; of a sitting of the hoard. »
