In a recent letter to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Holilaway, of Ballance, Mr. Charles William Holilaway, of. Blackslurg, Oakland (U.S.A.), slates that he has received tlio degree of Bachelor of Science at tlio Virginian Polytechnic Institution, the Slato Agricultural and Mechanical College. The degree carries with it the titlo of Professor. He states that he has teen recommended for an assistant Professorship at 1500 dollars (jaOO) por annum, and ho anticipates obtaining the appointment immediately. Mr. Holdaway formerly resided in I'ahiatua district," and was at one time a creamery manager in Taranalci. Ho left New Zealand about six years ngo for Canada, where ho spent two years. He afterwards crossed over into the States.
