After discussion, it was decided that tho matter of an improved access to Khandaliah, via Kaiwarra, be deferred for tho yVesent. The question of tho erection of a bath-ing-shed at Kaiwarra was deferred. The engineer was directed to prepare estimates* for forming an approach to Khandaliah' station from Izard's Road to the southern end of tho railway plat-

form. ' A deputation of residents and ratepayers of IChandallnh waited upon the council, and asked that a certain piece of land situated in the Lochiet Estate bo converted into a right-of-way. Iho council was asked to form and maintain this right-of-way. The deputation stated that the owners of this particular strip of land were prepared to hand it over to the council, it was also stated that each owner would bo prepared to givei ss. towards making tho right-of-way. this meant that, a sum of .£IG ss. would lie available to commence the work.—ln reply the Jlayor stated that the council fully realised the importance of the request for o road in that part of tho borough. He added that the council could not legally spend any money al the present time on the formation or upkeep of the road in question. The whole matter would bo considered, however, and the monev given by tho people concerned would be'used in the direction indicated. In conclusion, the Jlayor stated that if the ratepavers of the tjorongh would vote in favour of a loan for forming the road, the council would then be prepared to take a poll on the proposal. • but, he paid "the council would not feel jtist-i fied ill going to the expense of taking a poll if tliev had not the assurance that it would not be turned down by latepayers."
