Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report;—At our Upjier Hutt sale on Wednesday.. we submitted a fair yarding of both sheep fund: ''cattle to a good; attendance. Both, classes met with a dragging sale, with the exception of dairy stock close to calving, which met with, fairly good competition. We disposed of, however, mcst of the;lines under the hammer and privately ■at the following prices'.—Woolly hoggets, to 13s. 7d.; fat wethers, to £1 Ba.; ewes in lamb, to 14s. 9d.; cows in milk, £3, £3 25.. £3 165.; cows at drop, to £9 55.; 18-montlis heifers, to £3 10s.; .springing heifers, £5 95., £6 6s. to £7; fat cows, £5 :2s.
Mossrs.. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., re--port:—At' Waikanae, on' Tuesday, we submitted a very good yarding of both eheep and cattle. 'Bidding l on all lines of sheep was very . spirited, and' ;with tho exception of one lino of breeding ewes we had a total clearance nnder the hammer. There was a' good inquiry for cattle also, with the exception of dairy stock, which met, however, with a dragging sale. We quote: —60 wethers, on account oi Mossrs. M'Lean Bros., £1 ss. 50 fat eheep, on account of Mr. H. D. Buchanan, £1 2s. 6d. Other lines: Mixed breeding ewes, 14s. 4d. fat hoggets, 16s. Id.; hoggets, 13s. 3d. to 15s. 3d.; small hoggets, 10s. 6d.; 2J to 3-year steers, £3 lis. to £5 165.; 18-months to 2-year steers, £4 ss. to £4 Bs.; fat cows, £5 7s. 6cL, £6 17s. 6d. to £7 Is.; empty 18-month heifers, £3 lis. 6d.; heifers, in oalf, (backward), £3 13s. 6d. to £4-10s.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report:—On Wednesday we held a sale of dairy b-toclt, on account of Messrs. Harvey and Townsend, at Himatangi. Competition was good throughout, resulting in very talis factory prices being obtained. Quotationsßest springing cows, £9 ss. to £12 10s.; fair but backward cows, £6 15s. to £8 155,; late calvers and three-quarter cows, £3 10s. to £5 155.; cows in milk, £5 10s. to £7 55.; springing heifers (good), £7 ss. 9d. to £8 2s. 6(1.; springing heifers (fair), £5 to £6 55.; backward heifers,, £4 to £5; yearling coloured heifers, £3 3s. 6d.; yearling heifers, £2 lis.; yearling steers (discoloured), 335. 6d.; small heifers, 265. fid.; empty, cows, £3 16s. to £3 17s. 6d.; light fat cows, £5 2s. 6d. to £5 4s. 6d.; S.H. bulls, £3; Hoistein bulls, £6.
Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., report having held a successful clearing sale at Maharahara West, on account of Messrs. Meochan Bros., on. Wednesday, when they disposed of the whole dairy herd at prices very much in favour of tho vendors. Cows in pToflt and near tho drop realised prices Tanging from .£9 10s.' to £15 2s. 6d., and averaged £11 55., while October calvera made from £5 10s. to £10 10s., averaging £8; and tho Wholo herd averaged the very satisfactory figure of £9 7s. 6(1. Two-year-old grade Jersey hoifcrs sold from £6 to £7, and averaged £6 7s. 6d.; and grade Shorthorn heifers, £5 10s. Pigs also mado exceptionally good Drices, find we have to quote as follows:—Stores, £1 ?s.; sows, to farrow neit month, £7 10s.; and sows with litter, £8 55.; empty sows, £2 Ids.
