Reaching the stream from London on Wednesday night, the New Zealand Shipping Co.'s steamer Rotorua berthed at the King's Wliarf at 9.5 a.m. yesterday. A report of the voyage, supplied by Mr. F. W. Ha.rris (purser), stated that the steamer left London on July 3, and Plymouth two days later. Fine weather, accompanied b,v moderate north-west winds, prevailed until arrival at Teneriife, which port was reached at 5.38 p.m. on June 10. After taking on board 440 tons of coal, tlio Rotorua continued her voyage at 3 p.m. the next. (Lay, and experienced northerly winds until the nortli-east trades were picked up. Afte? crossing the equator on July 16, moderate south-east trades were encountered, after which the wind, remained southerly until Cape Town was reached at 1.12 a.m. on July 25. At the South African port bunkers were replenished, and the vessel continued her journey the following day. St/jng westerly and soutli-west winds were met. with after leaving, and these kept up for some time. Then followed an easterly gale, which retarded the vessel's progress, considerably, but the wind veered to nortli-north-east, and remained in this direction, blowing hard at times, until arrival at Hobart on August 7. Owing to the steeringgear breaking down the Rotorua was somewhat delayed at the Tasmnniaii port, and did not leave on the final 9tage of lier journey until 5 p.m. on Saturday last. The run across from Hobart was uneventful, the weather bei'ng fine and the sea comparatively smooth. Captain I. A. Sutcliffc is still in command, and Ims the following officers:—Chief, Mr. H. S. Tho Clan liner Clan M'Leod, which arrived in, the stream at Wellington from Bunbury on Wednesday, berthed at the King's Wharf vestejday morning. The vessel brought 6500 tons of hardwood sleepers, the timber being consigned to tho New Zealand Government Railways. Auckland' will bo the vessel's next port of call. .Captain Goodwin is in command, and has witll the following officers:—Chief. J. Willits second, G. L. Kemp; third, R. J. Young: fourth, W. RUAniNE FOR LONDON. ■; Shortly after noon yesterday the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Ruahine left the Glasgow Wharf. Wellington, and snilod for London, via way ports. The linor is due at her destination on October 2. TAHITI LEFT 'FRISCO. i Cable advice has been received by the focal office of the Union Company stating that the Tahiti left San Francisco for Wellington, via way ports, On August 20. The vessel, which is duo here on Sept-ember 11, has 750 bags of mails on board for Now Zealand ports, and 29 for Australia, MANUKA'S RUN CHANGED. The Union Company's steamer Manuka arrives in Wellington from southern ports this morning, and will be dispatched for Sydney direct at 5 p.m. For this trip tho Manuka is relieving the Warrimoo. Tho Manuka leaves Sydney for Wellington on August 30, and is due here on Wednesday, September 3. She leaves on the same dayfor Lyttelton, and is to leave tho southern port on the return trip on, September 4. This will bring tho Manuka to Welling, ton oil Friday, Sept-ember s—her due dat« in time-table running. On September 5 she will bo dispatched from Wellington,to Sydney at 5 p.m. as usual. No announcement has been ma-do regarding the ordinary connection between Lyttelton, southern ports, Hobart", and Melbourne on September 5. / THE STAR OF SCOTLAND. Tyser'3 Star of Scotland (now running under the A. 'and A. flag!' reached Auck-; land from Now York, via way ports, at 10' a.m. yesterday. She is expected to continue her journey_ to Wellington tomorrow, a,nd is due in port on Monday. Before proceeding south the Star of Scotland will put out 1650 tons of cargo here. U.S.S. CO.'S "GUIDE." A notable change lias been made in tho Union Steam Ship Company's monthly pocket guido time-table, commencing with the issue for tho current month. "Hitherto it has been the practice to print the list of the company's ships or.'the cover page, but in the new time-table an .attractive design lias been substituted, and the list of pliips is printed- on a separate page. Evidence is given of the rapid growth of the Union Company'** fleet, which is now enumerated in tho time-table under two headings, passenger vessels, and cargo vessels. The fleet totals 72 steamers, aggregating 211,112 tons gross. There are thirty-seven passenger steamers of 136,524 tons, the largest being tho Niagara, 13,500 tons, and the smallest the Wainui, 684 tons. Cargo steamers number thirty-five, t-lie- Aparima, 57C4 tons, being tho largest, and the Rosamond,72l tons, the smallest. Twenty-one passengers teamerrdnd one cargo steamer (the Aparima) arc fitted with wireless telegraphy plants. The Niagara is propelled by three screws driven by a combination of tivo sots of recip-rocating-engines and a set of low-pressure turbines. There aro four turbine-driven triple-screw steamers, Ma-heno, Wahine, Maori, and Loongana, while twelve passenger steamers and one cargo stea.mer ('Aparima) arc fitted jvttli twin screws.

Blyth, who has come ashore to sit for his master's certificate. Mr. J. Scott, fourth engineer of the Mararoa, left that vessel at Wellington yesterday. Mr. 8. Gandcll, late of* the Kittawa, h:n filled the vacancy. Mr. S. P. 'Morris, late of Ihe Kailcoura. is now second refrigeraing engineer on tho Rotorua. Mr. H. S. S. A cablegram has been received from Melbourne stating that the U.S. and A. Line's chartered steamer fihienfels arrived thcro from New York yesterday. According to a cablegram which lias been received from London, the Blackball ComjKiny's new collier Ngakata has sailed for the Bluff. The Uuion Company's collier Kurow left Newcastle for ToUomft.ru Bay and Nanicr yesterday. Tho Government steamer Xlinemon is expected to leave Wellington on her periodical trip to eoutheru lighthouses at a p.m. to-day. On Tuesday the Vnicu Company'? caraocarrier Taviuni arrives here lo load for New Plymouth and West Coast ports. It is expected that- the Union steamer Koonya will get away from Groyiuoiith for Sydney to-morrow. The auxiliary scow Echo left Knrniuea for Wellington at. 12.30 p.m. yesterday. She will discharge limber at Miramar. The coastal steamer Tainui will load at Wellington for Waitara to-morrow. According to advices received by Messrs. Dalgety and. Co. Urn U.S. and A. Line's chartered steamer Rhienfcls, which left New York for Wellington on June 27, is duo here about September 16,
