THE JULIUS KNIGHT SEASON,
At the Opera House this evening Mr,' Julius -Knight who has by his many successes in this country croated a public almost of his own, who nre a'lways ready to ■welcome him with enthusiasm, will make his reappearance. This would be taken ns a compliment by any artist, and in this oaso it is ono .that has been honestly earned. In addition to the return of Mr. Knight, there will bo the first performance in New Zealand of Mesa's. Arnold Bennett and Edward Knoblauch's new com cdy, "Milestones," wliich it is reported, has boon breaking: records and received ■with much'e'nthuiiiasiii wherever played. Mr. Knis'ht and company arrived in Wellington yesterday from Sjxliney by the.Ulinwvroa, after terminating'a long and brilliant tour in the Australian Statos.'Mr. Knight will, it is stated, bo supported by a company of unusual CTcellenoe, including Miss Irene Browne and other artists such as Miss Grace Noble, Miss Emma Ten!plo,' Miss Maggio Knight,' Miss Irby Marshall, Miss Dorothy Gumming, Mr. Leslie Victor, Mr. Arthur Greenaway, Mr.--Martin Lewis, ODr. Leonard Willoy, Mr. Ronald Macleod, Mr. J. Plumpton Wilson, Mr. Charles Morse, and Mr. Victor Tatnall. A featuro of the "Mile'6ton.es" production will bo tlio general mounting and appointments in keeping With the different periods of the play, THEATRE ROYAL. Vaudeville at present showing at the Theatre Roynl is particularly good. The chief items of interest are contributed by: The St. Leonards, chair balancers; Athol, heavy-weight lifter; the' Threo Decars and their educated donkey; and Mr. Fred Branscombe, a double-voiced singer. THE SMART SET. The Smart Set are still enjoying wellearned popularity at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. Each evening this delightful band of entertainers contribute capital items, judged from the point of view of popular. taste. Tho Wellington . season concludes in about a fortnight, and the company will then move southwards. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "Arabia, tho Equine Detective" (drama), "Tho Web" (Vita drama), "The Flirty Husband" (comedy), and "The Rapids" (scenic) are among tho chief pictures of interest now being screened at His Majesty's Theatre. The above pictures, as well as many others, will bo re-shown this evening. THE KING'S THEATRE. "The School Principal" is,the title of the chief picture of the current programme now being screened at' the King's Theatre'. Tho film is supported' by the following interesting ' subjects; "The Golden Wedding," "Motor Racing in. the . Isle of Man-," "Tho Ambitions Butler," and, "Alice, or the Test of. I'riendship." EMPRESS THEATRE. Yesterday saw tho final screening at the Empress Theatre continuous pictws of" j ''Had She-But Known," an exciting railway drama. A railway engiue-oriMT, 'his stoker, and a pretty girl figured mostly in. tho picture. ' 'l'ho supportiug itrois, including "The Mistake" (A.B. ,!nma), and "A Flirtation at Sea" (B. and C. comedy) were the best. To-day a complete change of prosfKuunie will to screened, tho leading item of which is "Tho Enemy's Baby" (an A.JS. feature drama). Tho Edison Company aie represented )>y "A Raco to Now York." The: supporting films include a series of jrarld-widia successes. SHORTTS' PICTURES. Among the new pictures which are to be rescreened at Shortts' Continuous Picture Theatie to-day will be "The Girl of tho Water Spring." Tho management states that , tho subject combines studies of natural sconery of great beauty, and a pretty love, story,., and culminates in. a scene of -great--dramatio/powpr,',in> which the hero's skill with tho- lassoo saves' tho heroine from being carried to. the. rapids. "Ah Sing—HeTo,' is the title, of another: lengthy. ; dramatic study,, which Will 'bo Bhown for the first time to-day.
