HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) _o Yesterday afternoon Ma\ P. R. Purser was the recipient of a valuable souvenir from tho Hutt Borough Council staff. Mr. Roche (engineer), in asking him to accept tlie token, referred to the good feeling that tad existed, between Mi. Purser and the staff, and wished him every success in Hastings. Last Monday ' evening a Morris-tubo match (miniature rifles) was fired on the Petono Working Men's Club range, between teams representing the Wellington Post and Telegraph and tho Petono Working Men's Olub. The . former team was the winner by 8 points, scoring 3GB as against tho letter's 355. At St. David's Literary and Social Club, Petone, last' night, the Rov. J. GibsonSmith recited a series of poems, pathetic and humorous, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. \
