BOATING FATALITY.
SWAMPED IN THE BREAKERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Westport, August 19. ■A! boat, presumably belonging to a Frenchman. named Louis Tardi, a resident of Westport, sot into tho breakers off Cape Foulwind this afternoon and wins swamped and the occupant drowned. No one got a very clear view of the accident. Tho harbour tug went out and searched the vicinity, but saw nothing of the boat or tlio missing man. Tardi had been in AVestport sonie years. ngo as cook on a sailing vessel. lie had artistic tastes which were given effect to in paintings in every colour of oils. As far as is known locally ho has no relatives in New Zealand, !
